Privacy Policy

Wime is a time-tracking app that shows you where you spend your time. It was built so that your data stays on your iPhone. This page explains what that means in practice.

The short version

Location

Wime uses your location, including in the background, to notice the places you visit and how long you stay, so it can build your timeline. To do that through the whole day it asks for the “Always” location permission.

Your location is processed on your iPhone and saved in the app's private database on the device. It is never uploaded to a server, and neither the developer nor anyone else can see it. You can turn location access off at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Motion

Wime reads your iPhone's motion activity to tell how you travelled between places: walking, running, cycling or driving. Like location, this is processed and stored on the device and is never sent anywhere.

Camera and photos

When you make a share card, you can put your own photo behind it. Wime uses the camera only when you choose to take that photo, and picks from your library only through Apple's photo picker. Wime saves a card to your photo library only if you choose to save it. Photos stay on your iPhone unless you share them yourself.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Wime can show you a note you wrote when you come back to that place, and now and then point out a habit, like the same Saturday spot a few weeks in a row. Wime works these out on your iPhone from your own history, and iOS delivers them from the device. Nothing goes through a server, and nobody else sees them. You can turn off either kind in Wime's Settings, or turn notifications off completely in iOS Settings.

The map screen

The map screen loads map tiles from a maps provider: Apple Maps on iPhone and OpenStreetMap on Android. When you open the map, that provider receives ordinary map-tile requests for the area on screen, as described in Apple's Privacy Policy and the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy. Your places and stays themselves are still stored only on your device.

If you delete the app

From version 1.7, Wime keeps a copy of your timeline (places, stays, trips and notes) in your iPhone's Keychain, so that deleting the app and installing it again brings your history back. The copy is stored on this device only. It is not synced to iCloud Keychain and it does not move to another phone. Wime also keeps the date your free trial started there, so a reinstall does not start a new trial.

Subscriptions

Wime is free for 7 days. After that, using the app requires an auto-renewing subscription, Wime Pro. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Wime does not see or store your payment details. Billing and subscription management are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data you share or export

Wime can export your data as a JSON file, and can turn a stay into a picture you share. In both cases you decide where it goes, for example another app, a file or an AI assistant. Once you share something it has left Wime's private storage, and the terms of wherever you sent it apply.

Deleting your data

Everything is stored on your device, so you are in control of it. To remove all of it, open Wime and go to Settings → Erase all data. That also empties the copy kept in the Keychain. Deleting the app on its own removes the app's database but, from version 1.7, leaves the Keychain copy for a future reinstall, so use Erase all data first if you want everything gone. There is no copy on any server to ask us to delete, because none is ever made.

Children

Wime is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new “Last updated” date.
